Meet Faisal Malik, The Actor Who Plays Prahlad Pandey In Panchayat

With the release of Panchayat 3, the fans can’t stop talking about the fantastic journey of the characters who were present from Season 1. I was already expecting to like Panchayat 3 because of the great foundation of the first two seasons. I was nevertheless astonished to see the third season’s sensibility reinforced. This is possibly the finest of any Indian web series released in recent years.

In season 2 we saw, Abhishek Tripathi (Jitendra) is still working as the Panchayat Secretary in Fakauli, but he has grown as a person. He’s more passionate, worried, and troubled. He has developed a sense of responsibility as a result of the calm afternoons and star-filled evenings. He’s also yearning for love and friendship unconsciously. The type that happens by itself, even if you don’t want it to!

While the first season mainly revolves around Abhishek, season 2 brought us the new dimensions of Phulera residents.

Many characters who appeared minor in the first season came up with their own story this time. One of the characters is Prahlad Pandey (role played by Faisal Malik).

In Panchayat Season 3 we can see Prahlad Panday after the death of his soldier son Rahul. Prahlad AKA Faisal Malik, was always showcased as a friendly sidekick throughout the show, but in this season he has a significant role as the father of a martyr.

Faisal Malik as Prahlad Pandey in Panchayat

Prahlad Pandey doesn’t have his own story in the first season despite being the fact that he is the Upa Pradhan of the village and one of the closest associates of Pradhan Pati, famously known as Pradhan Ji in the village.

But in season 2, his story became more and more intriguing when we came to know the fact that he also has family in the form of his one and only child Rahul Pandey (the character played by Shiv Swaroop) who is a soldier in Indian Army. And the relationship between them is more like a friend rather than a father and a son. The way they play or when Prahlad made chapattis for him. Faisal’s fatherly side has touched everyone’s hearts.

At the conclusion of season 2, when his son was martyred in Kashmir, where he stole the whole limelight in the last moments of the show. His character development from being a funny and jolly person to a serious and lonely being has moistened everyone’s eyes.

Prahlad Pandey in Panchayat Season 3

In Season 3, when we first hear of Prahlad, it’s from the people who care about him including Vikas (Chandan Roy), Pradhan Pati (Raghubir Yadav), and Manju Devi (Neena Gupta). They discuss about Prahlad not being his normal self. The grief-stricken father has been straying out of his home or not eating properly. They are worried about his excessive drinking. Prahlad looks like a hopeless man with nothing to look forward to.

Throughout the eight episodes of season 3, Prahlad is seen changing his mood as per the situation, but the sorrow in his eyes remains unchanged.

Prahlad often gets out of his lifeless state when he is provided with a task, he takes it up and does it efficiently. He’s even ready to resort to violence if that’s what it takes to restore the power and status. In an episode, when the District Magistrate’s orders

Prahlad emphatically refers to Sachiv’s (Jeetendra Kumar) premature transfer and his son’s early demise.

Prahlad seems to be hopeless and he doesn’t want to encash the ₹50 lakh cheque he got from the government after his son’s martyrdom. He looks confused and looks for a purpose to make good use of the money. He is keen to offer it to the people in need, like in rebuilding a road so that Pradhan has a shot in the upcoming elections, providing financial support to Vikas so he can plan his family despite his low income, and even contributing to the treatment of an old woman in his village because her son can’t afford it.

Prahlad ends up saving the life of the old woman and his emotional interaction with her is one of the best moments of Panchayat Season 3.

However, knowing what he went through and what happened to his family before arriving in Mumbai will astound you. He has had a difficult personal life. In a previous interview with TEDx Talks, he revealed this. He said that his younger brother died of the renal disease when he was in the ninth grade. He and his entire family were unable to recover from his brother’s demise, then he came to know that his sister has done suicide due to academic failure.

Faizal Malik lost control after that and wasted five years of his life. Faisal had stated that he would hold everyone accountable for his brother and sister’s deaths. He had abandoned his studies. Faizal’s parents and family were furious with him. No one wanted to be around Faisal at one point.

He was, however, unable to concentrate on his studies. Someone recommended he try acting, but he realised it would be difficult. To make ends meet, he took up odd jobs.

He landed a job as a tapestry weaver. Because there was no place to sleep, I had to spend the evenings at the station. Many times I had to go hungry. Faizal Malik spent his days like this.
