Ed Sheeran is one of the most successful musicians of all time. For all the right reasons? Obviously for all the right reasons. The English singer-songwriter is currently enjoying the success of his latest album “Subtract”. This most-awaited album which made its launch on 5th May 2023, has turned out to be another huge success. Now, we all know how innovative the marketing strategy of the food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy is. They did something quite fun in order to lend support to the recently released album.

Swiggy users got a pleasant surprise last weekend (from 5th May to 7th May) when they noticed an adorable #SadBlueMonster on a skateboard making its way to deliver orders on the Swiggy app, in celebration of the album launch!

“Often sadness is something that follows you around,” said Ed Sheeran

While talking about his latest album Ed Sheeran told to the press release as we quote,

“I wanted to make a video inspired by movies like Harvey, where the main character has an imaginary friend who’s a giant rabbit that no one can see. Often sadness is something that follows you around, engulfing the rooms you’re in, and you can feel and see it, but no one else around you can. So I decided to create my own big blue monster for the video. He gets bigger and bigger as the video goes on, ’til he takes up whole rooms, and is all I can see, just like sadness.”

On the flip side, this creative marketing approach by Swiggy is being appreciated both by its consumers as well as the fans of Ed Sheeran. The fun conversation on Twitter saw the joining of multiple brands like Disney India and Amazon MiniTV.
