The name of the fall comes from Dudh – Milk and Sagar – Sea, which then translates to the Sea of Milk

The name comes from a famous legend who said that once a princess used to bathe in the lake beside Mandovi river every day and once, a traveler stopped nearby to gaze at the princess. The maid came to the princess with her clothes; she upturned a jug of milk in front of her to create a virtual curtain. She created it between the traveler and herself to protect her feminine dignity from the traveler who was gazing at her and since then, the locals believe that the waterfall is continuously creating that milk curtain.

The waterfall is located just 60-65kms from Panjim and 45 km from Madgaon

The place can be reached by road using private taxis that will drop you near the entrance of Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary, in Mollem. From Mollem, the management provides jeeps that take to the fall and they charge around Rs. 500 per person. If you like a train, the nearest railway station includes Kulem and Castle Rock station and then you may trek to the falls.
