Dubai World Cup

The Dubai World Cup is not only one of the most lucrative races in the world of horse racing, but it is also one of the highlights of the sport in Asia. Huge crowds are expected to flock to Meydan Racecourse for the conclusion of the Dubai World Cup Carnival.

Due to lucrative prize money, Meydan does an excellent job of attracting the best dirt horses from all corners of the globe. This year could see Life Is Good tackle the 2,000-meter contest, in what would be his first appearance out of the USA.

Life Is Good has established himself as one of the most exciting thoroughbreds in the sport over the last 12 months. As shown in the horse racing results today, he recently won the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park and, as a result of that, he is now the favorite for the Dubai World Cup at 3.00. The race in Florida saw the colt take on the Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Knicks Go. He dominated the contest from start to finish, breaking from the stalls better than any of his rivals, before scoring by just over three lengths.

Victory in March for the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner will help cement his position as the best thoroughbred in the world.

T O Keynes Travels to Dubai with Big Chance

A Japanese-trained horse has been successful just once in the history of the Dubai World Cup. Victoire Pisa was successful in 2011 for trainer Katsuhiko Sumii. The country’s best chance of victory in 2022 comes with T O Keynes who was in excellent form in 2021.

The five-year-old horse won three of his four races last year. On his final start of the campaign, he won the Grade One Champions Cup at Chukyo. That success has ensured he can now tackle some big international races in 2022, including the Saudi Cup and Dubai World Cup.

This horse is very comfortable on dirt as he has raced on the surface ever since he made his debut as a two-year-old. If he can add his name to the roll of honor at Meydan, it would be a huge success for Japanese horse racing.

Dubai Icon in World Cup Mix Following Meydan Win

UK-based trainer Saeed bin Suroor has won the Dubai World Cup a record nine times. His most recent success came in 2019 when Thunder Snow prevailed for the second straight year. A 10th victory in 2022 may rest on the shoulders of Dubai Icon.

The experienced six-year-old scored on his return to Meydan in January. That victory has boosted his chances of not only running in the Dubai World Cup but also winning it.

Meydan is a racecourse Dubai Icon knows very well. He has raced at the Dubai World Cup venue on eight occasions before. The son of New Approach could feature one more time prior to lining up in the international field. He is currently an outsider for the race, but given the record his trainer has, he should not be discounted.
The 2022 Dubai World Cup is scheduled for the 26th March. It will be the 26th edition of the turf race in the UAE.
