Indian reality shows are no short of drama. Every contestant and even judges are ready to shed tear at a drop of a hat. When all this started around early 2000s, it all felt so real. Thus, the TRP of reality shows shot up like a rocket escaping our atmosphere. However, as we grew accustomed to it, the picture became clearer that it’s all staged. The sob stories, the romantic angles, the on-stage rivalries are planned backstage.

The makers churn out stories for the obvious reasons to rake numbers. And you will be surprised to know that even the most popular reality shows on Indian television are at some point of time accused of cooking stories and staging things. Right from Kaun Banega Crorepati to Indian Idol, every popular reality show have come under scanner for faking narratives on the show and shedding crocodile tears.

1. Kaun Banega Crorepati

Kaun Banega Crorepati hosted by Amitabh Bachchan is accused of playing false struggle stories about contestants on the television. The writers of the show cook stories to rake in some numbers. Also, after winning Rs. 1 crore in KBC, the total amount they take home is around 70 Lakhs only after tax and other charges. Also, the audience poll is rigged when the question accounts for a higher amount!

2. Bigg Boss

Our readers already know the answer. Nothing about Bigg Boss is real. The fights and love stories are pre-planned to boost the TRP charts. Also, if a contestant is not able to bring TRP, he/she is evicted regardless of their popularity. The contestants seem to be cooking all the time in the kitchen area, but you will be surprised to know that the food is sometimes prepared by the staff! Some reports have also suggested that contestants are allowed to consume ALCOHOL inside the house. Well, we don’t know how much of it is true.

3. India’s Got Talent and Indian Idol

Apart from Neha Kakkar’s fake tears, there is not much of reality in these reality shows. The winners are pre-decided, so we all know. They also take poor performers to the top to maintain the entertainment quotient of the show and to make the audience laugh. Also, even after giving the audition, you can only make a cut if you have a jack among the judges and the management of the show.

4. MTV Splitsvilla

All the love stories, breakups, fights and patch ups are fake on Splitsvilla. Just like other reality shows, the winners of this Sunny Leone hosted show are also pre-decided. The judges will pick the winners as per their pre-conceived notions.

5. Dance India Dance

Though in a cryptic manner, a Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra revealed on Son of Abish that she was eliminated from a popular dance reality show (supposedly Dance India Dance) because she didn’t have a sob story. According to her, the show only supported those who are lying about their family background or those who have some conflicts with their parents. Sanya had none, so she had to walk away empty-handed.
