There are many cricketers who are known for their controversies apart from their cricketing career.

1. Shane Warne

The Aussie legend Shane Warne can’t keep his hands off controversies. He courted headlines in the past for allegedly harassing British nurse Donna Wright with his sleazy phone calls and voice message. He was also infamously known for being in improper relationship with two 25-year-old models along with being over-friendly with a Melbourne stripper. Warne once even kissed his ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley in public.

2. Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi along with other Pakistani cricketers Hasan Raza and Atiq-uz-Zaman were caught in a Karachi hotel with some young women just before a tournament in Singapore in 2000. When caught, they claimed that those women were just their fans and were there to take autographs. Later, Pakistan Cricket Board dropped their name from the ICC Champions Trophy. Also an Indian model named Arshi Khan claimed that she had a physical relation with Afridi.

3. Kevin Pietersen

The England cricket was said to be dating a Playboy model and Big Brother contestant Vanessa Nimmo. However, after one month of brief relationship, they broke up. The model later revealed that Kevin was a big time sex addict and pestered her for physical relationship. She even revealed that his performance wasn’t satisfactory in bed.

4. Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle is much of a party animal, as known by everyone. The Jamaican cricketer was found being ‘friendly’ with three British women in a Sri Lankan hotel room during ICC World T20 2012. In 2015, a hotel staff accused him of flashing at her.

5. Mike Gatting

Former England captain Mike Gatting was illicitly involved with a barmaid, Louise Shipman. He was even caught in a hotel room with Shipman during his first test against West Indies at Trent Bridge.

6. Herschelle Gibbs

In his autobiography To The Point, Herschelle Gibbs talked freely about his life. Describing one such escapade, he wrote,

“I just knew I was going to get a century. Perhaps the girl lying in bed beside me had inspired me. She worked at the hotel, where I had befriended her. I guess she was my lucky charm – she certainly was when it came to my batting. I just wish her powers had extended to my fielding and the bladdy dropped catch.”

7. Daryl Tuffey

The New Zealand pacer was caught and filmed during an intimate situation with a 23-year-old sales representative by two English tourists in 2005. However, when the video went viral the woman denied having ever met Tuffey.

8. Asad Rauf

Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf courted controversy when a 21-year-old Iranian model Leena Kapoor accused him of having an affair with her. She even accused him of sexually exploiting her on pretext of marriage. However, Rauf maintained that she was just a fan and she was trying to bask on his popularity by making such false claims. The fans although, didn’t buy his stories as their intimate pictures were already viral on the internet.

9. Ian Botham

Sir Ian Botham cheated on his wife with an Australian waitress. He was also known for being associated with former Miss Barbados Lindy Field in the 1980s. In fact, in one of the alleged affairs, he got infamous for allegedly breaking a bad.

10. Mohammad Akram and Saqlain Mushtaq

Both the Pakistani players fanned a story that they were mugged outside their Sandton Hotel post which the Pakistani team threatened to walk out of their South African Tour in 1998. However, later it came to surface that they chipped their teeth at a strip club called Club 69.

11. Sri Lankan Team for Temple Road Brothel

The whole Sri Lankan team got involved in one of the biggest sex scandals the cricket industry has seen so far. A Wisen Almanack claimed that Sri Lankan police raided a brothel at Temple Road at Mount Lavinia that served elite cricketers for the past 10 years. 8 girls all in their twenties along with their 78-year-old head were arrested.

12. West Indies Team

West Indies team came under fire when they suffered back to back 5 defeats at 2005 VB Series. The sponsor Digicel claimed that the players have more phone number of women than runs they made in the entire tournament. A leaked document even claimed that a Digicel representative heard numerous door banging and female voices in the hotel corridor the night before the match.

13. Andre Nel

Former South African pacer Andre Nel was having a secret relationship with Jelena Kultiasova. It was claimed that he never revealed to Jelena that he was already married. In 2010, she found out herself after searching him on the internet.
