Bollywood today stands as one of the biggest movies industry in the world and you cannot deny the role of music in making Bollywood this big. There have been many legendary music composers and singers in the industry who have played their part. The music composers add soul to a song and then there are singers who gives the final touch to a song by adding emotions.

Bollywood has given us many great singers and if you count the greatest you cannot take off the Nightingale of India aka Lata Mangeshkar off the list. The ninety one year old singer has sung more than twenty five thousands songs in different languages and had a career of around seven decades. The great singer has been honored with multiple awards and recognition including Bharat Ratna.

A Twitter user by the handle @ikaveri tweeted that the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was overrated, tweeting that Indians had been brainwashed into thinking that she has a good voice. In a series of tweets she criticised Lata Mangeshkar. Below are few tweets,

The topic ‘Lata Mangeshwar’ was soon seen trending on Twitter, with more than 6,000 tweets as many, many came to the defence of the celebrated singer and highlighted her achievements in her illustrious career. Some even shared links to Mangeshkar’s most popular songs, pointing out that it’s unacceptable to speak ill of her “golden voice”.

Singer Adnan Sami jumped to the defence of legendary singer after being called her overrated by a Twitter user. Adnan advised the Twitter user to stay silent rather than letting the world know of their stupidity. Replying to it, Adnan wrote,

“Bandar Kya Jaane Adrak Ka Swaad (What does the monkey know of the good taste of ginger). …It’s better to stay silent and appear stupid than to open your mouth & remove all doubt!!”

Not just Adnan Sami, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri also defended the legendary singer. He tweeted,

Just before responding to the troll, Adnan Sami had shared a throwback picture of the legendary trio Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Noor Jehan. The photo features a young Lata Mangeshkar with Asha Bhosle and late Noor Jehan, who was one of the earliest and most acclaimed stars of the Hindi cinema. However, she later relocated to Pakistan after the partition.
