Bollywood actress Esha Gupta has finally addressed the long-standing rumours linking her to Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya. In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, the actress clarified that while the two were in touch for a few months, their interaction never blossomed into a romantic relationship.
Esha opened up about the connection with Hardik Pandya
In an interview, she was asked about the dating rumor with Hardik Pandya, which started in 2018. Recalling the past, Esha shared that she and Hardik had spoken throughout a couple of months and even met once or twice. However, she was quick to point out that their connection never progressed to a serious relationship. According to her, they were in a space where it was unclear whether anything would happen at all.

She described it as the kind of situation where two people are unsure, “maybe it will happen, maybe it won’t”—and in their case, it simply didn’t. The actress said,

“Yeah, for some time we were talking. I don’t think we were dating, but yeah, we were talking for a couple of months. We were at that ‘maybe it will happen, maybe it won’t’ stage. It ended before we even reached the dating stage. So it wasn’t dating-dating. We met once or twice, that’s it. So yeah, as I said, it was a couple of months and then it ended.”
Esha on why they didn’t end up together
Esha was honestly revealed that the two realized early on that they were not compatible. The decision to part ways came naturally and without any drama. She said, “It just wasn’t meant to be,” suggesting that mutual understanding and timing played key roles in the outcome.
Their dynamic, while friendly and respectful, lacked the spark or alignment needed for a lasting relationship. She further shared how everyone has a different perspective and that she is family-oriented.

Speaking more broadly about her personal life, Esha emphasized that she values simplicity and real connection over glamor and fame. She expressed a strong preference for family-oriented relationships, saying she finds more joy in spending time with loved ones than being in the limelight.

The Koffee With Karan controversy
In the same interview, when asked whether Hardik Pandya’s controversial appearance on Koffee With Karan influenced her feelings, Esha clarified that by the time the episode aired, their brief communication had already ended. She also mentioned that Hardik and KL Rahul were already going through a challenging time due to the controversy that flared over their comments on Koffee With Karan.

She also noted that she didn’t appreciate the tone of the episode, describing it as crass and disrespectful. However, she maintained that the controversy had no direct impact on her since she was not involved with him at the time.

“By the time that episode came out, it had already phased out. We just realised that we are not the same, not compatible enough. And everyone has a type. More than the limelight, I like family and real life. Of course I love my work — without the camera, there would be no Esha Gupta. But at the end of the day, I like going home and asking my mom what’s going on, getting scolded by her. I like all that. I can’t deal with waking up every morning and thinking ‘Oh my God,’ and my husband and I praising ourselves for how good-looking we are — I can’t handle that.”

Esha Gupta further clarified that even before they reached the appropriate dating stage, the connection between them phased out. According to Esha, Hardik, too, by then, has realised that she was not his type.
Esha can be quoted as saying:
“Nothing against Hardik Pandya, as I said, it was just the talking stage. You know how there are stages? We never even got to the proper meeting stage. I don’t think we were compatible, so things never progressed. It’s not that there was something lacking in him or me — we were just very different. And in a month or two, even he realised I wasn’t his type, and I realised he wasn’t mine.”
With this revelation, Esha Gupta has put an end to years of speculation about her link to Hardik Pandya. By offering her side of the story, she has made it clear that while there may have been some curiosity and buzz surrounding their connection, it never turned into anything substantial.
