13 Popular Bollywood Celebrities And Their Rumoured Underworld Connections

Post the unexpected demise of Sushant Singh Rajput; everyone is trying to find the links of the underworld in his death. Some of the popular Bollywood celebrities are having link-ups with the underworld dons for a long time.

Here are some of the celebrities who were linked with the underworld mafia at some time or the other. For some, the connections proved advantageous as they could easily bag roles in movies, while for some, it resulted in life threats and extortion.

1. Sanjay Dutt 1993 Bombay blasts

Sanjay Dutt is a popular actor and has acted as a lead role in many super hit movies. He is popular for his underworld connections as well. During the 1993 bomb blasts, he was arrested for illegally possessing arms and even his conversation with Chhota Shakeel was also released by Mumbai Police. He was also tagged as a terrorist post that incident. Sanjay was jailed for a long time. In 2016 he was released from jail.

2. Shah Rukh Khan and Chhota Shakeel

The king of Bollywood had faced extortion calls from the underworld. He had received death threats after his movie Happy New Year released. Recently Shah Rukh Khan has signed up for the movie Koochie Koochie Hota Hai which is set to release in 2021.

3. Salman Khan with Dawood Ibrahim

The Bhaijan’s name is often linked with underworld figures like Dawood Ibrahim, Chota Shakeel and Guru Satam. It is even rumoured that he had advance information about the 1993 Mumbai blasts. Salman has signed up for the film Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali which is set to release in 2021.

4. Monica Bedi and Abu Salem

Monica is rumoured to be married to the underworld gangster, Abu Salem. Even Abu Salem had used his influence to get her roles for movies like Jaanam Samjha Karo and Jodi No 1. The couple separated after their arrest, with Salem still behind the bars.

5. Preity Zinta and Ravi Pujari

The dimpled beauty was also received extortion calls from the underworld, don. Rumour surfaced when Ness Wadia, the ex-boyfriend of Priety claimed that she had a meeting with Ravi Pujari, an underworld don. During the release of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, she was rumoured to be seen with the goon. She had also received threat calls during her shooting for Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.

6. Anil Kapoor and Dawood Ibrahim

The veteran actor who has appeared in more than a hundred Bollywood movies. Anil Kapoor is considered one of the finest actors of Bollywood. Anil Kapoor was rumoured to have proximity with the underworld terror Dawood Ibrahim. They both were spotted together in one of the cricket matches. However, later Anil had denied any such allegations.

7. Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar with Dawood Ibrahim

It was rumoured that both of them had underworld links as the duo was spotted attending parties hosted by Dawood Ibrahim. However, later they both denied any allegations.

8. Mamta Kulkarni and Vikram Goswami

The bubbly beauty of Bollywood had an affair with the underworld don Vikram Goswami. It is even rumoured that Mamta left her filmy career to settle in Dubai with the don. The couple was arrested sometime back from Kenya.

9. Haji Mastan and Sona

The celebrity gangster of Bombay got married to Sona as she resembled Madhubala. Haji was quote fond of Madhubala.

10. Anita Ayub and Dawood Ibrahim

Anita Ayub, a beauty pageant contestant, was had e proximity to underworld terror Dawood Ibrahim. It happened in 1995 when Bollywood producer Javed Siddique refused to cast her in a movie and he was shot dead by Dawood’s men.

11. Gulshan Kumar assassination

Gulshan Kumar faced extortion from Dawood Ibrahim and when he refused to pay any amount the T-Series owner was shot in broad daylight in 1997. It is said that Abu Salem also played role in that incident.

Mandakini got fame with the role of her movie in Ram Tere Ganga Maili. The popular actress was having an affair with the underworld mafia Dawood Ibrahim. It was even rumoured that Dawood used his influence to get her roles in many movies.

13. Rakesh Roshan and Ali Baba Budesh

After the success of Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan had denied giving profit share to the don Ali Baba Budesh, and for this, he was shot in the arm and chest when he was going to work. Fortunately, Rakesh survived.

Popular directors like Mukesh Bhatt, Boney Kapoor had also received calls for sharing of profits of their movies and they were threatened with dire consequence if they didn’t comply.
