A Zomato user recently took to X to highlight a price mismatch in his order. He shared two bills for the same meal—one generated on the Zomato app and another from the restaurant that arrived with the food. Both showed different pricing, which he found confusing and unfair. Seeking clarification, he shared the screenshots on social media. Zomato soon responded to address his concern.
Zomato customer flags price mismatch in bills, attaches proof
A Zomato user named Gopinath R took to social media platform X to share his concern about a price discrepancy in his food order. He explained that while he paid Rs 205 for his meal through the Zomato app, the restaurant bill that came along with the order showed a total of only Rs 184. This mismatch raised questions in his mind about the billing process on the platform.

To support his claim, Gopinath attached a screenshot of the Zomato app bill and also uploaded a clear image of the printed bill he received from the restaurant. The restaurant bill showed no GST or additional charges, making the price difference even more confusing.

Zomato clarifies price difference in customer’s bill
Soon after Gopinath R shared his concern on X, Zomato stepped in with a clarification in the comment section. The company explained that the difference in the amounts was not an error but came from additional charges that the restaurant bill does not reflect.

Zomato wrote,
“Hi Gopinath, we’d like to inform you that the restaurant bill does not include the platform fee and the taxes applied on it, which may explain the difference in the total amount. For a better understanding, you can download the full invoice from the ‘Order History’ section in our app to see the complete cost breakdown. If you need any further assistance, feel free to DM us.”
