The X user, Siddharth Mishra, mocked the food platforms by noticing a striking difference in the bills for the same food ordered from Swiggy and Zomato
The user posted a screenshot of both bills to compare the prices. The user first shared the Zomato bill, where one can see that he ordered two Margherita Pizzas (New Hand Tossed, Medium) from Domino’s Pizza. The order total on Zomato is Rs 555.70. Whereas, the total Swiggy bill for the same food items from the same restaurant sums up to Rs 402.

Ordered the exact same food on Swiggy and Zomato. @Swiggy charged Rs 402, @zomato Rs 550. Bro, am I paying for pizza or a 5-minute Zoom call with the chef?

The price difference of Rs 148 for the same meal made the user crack a joke about it.
Zomato made a clarification statement in which they mentioned that the total bill is different due to varying discounts applied
Zomato Care replied by mentioning that the food item price is the same on both the platforms. The final bills are different because in the Swiggy bill, the user has applied a discount. They also shared that the bill can also differ due to varying GST and restaurant packages. These charges can vary from platform to platform and from restaurant to restaurant.

Zomato replied,
Hi Siddharth, please note that the item value is the same on both platforms. The difference in the total bill is due to varying discounts applied, and GST and restaurant packages. These may vary from platform to platform and from restaurant to restaurant. We hope this helps.

While the tweet was meant to be humorous, it also highlights the negligence of the customer in noticing that the price difference in the final bills was due to a certain discount on Swiggy. The price of the food item he ordered is the same on both Zomato and Swiggy.

However, certain discrepancies can be attributed to a mix of factors, like, different platform commissions, delivery fees, packaging charges, or even promotional pricing models.
