Customer finds soggy Ghewar with a future packaging date

While we get to hear about such problems a lot, some time back, a problem came up which will leave everyone surprised. The arrival of outdated goods bothers people, yet lately, someone received a food item with a manufacturing date that had not arrived yet. Yes! You have heard it rightly. Surprisingly, the customer named Aman Arora received a Ghewar with a future manufacturing date. On top of this, the Ghewar he ordered comes out very soggy and is not suitable for eating. Voicing his grievances, he wrote on X, previously known as Twitter:

@zomatocare This is in regards to order id 7100984960.  I ordered small ghewar which is has future packaging date and has smell and soggy too. It has packaging date of 29 july and today is 28 july. Attached is image for ur reference.

How has Zomato reacted to the problem?

After noticing the above-mentioned tweet, Zomato has reacted to Aman’s grievances. Replying to him, the official Twitter account of the food-delivering company wrote,

Delivery mishaps are causing problems lately

This is not the first time this kind of delivery mishap has happened. Consumer convenience has surely increased with the explosive expansion of online food delivery services.  But convenience has also brought with it a number of drawbacks, particularly with regard to food quality, packaging, and prompt delivery. Recently, customers from various parts of the country shared their ordeals about delivery mishaps that happened to them.

A customer from Guwahati found an insect in the ordered food, while another customer found a cockroach in their order. Not only this, but also many customers complained about getting the wrong order and not receiving any compensation. Complaints about Zomato and other food delivery services are coming in a barrage every day. However, only a few get satisfactory results. Most people’s complaints get lost somewhere amidst new complaints.

The main cause of the issue is the inadequate supervision of suppliers and quality assurance. Delivery platforms frequently act as middlemen between eateries and patrons, letting merchants handle and package food. This often leads to quality check problems. Furthermore, food products with inaccurate packaging dates, particularly ones that are future-dated, also raise significant ethical and legal concerns. Date fraud can breach food safety regulations and put consumers’ health at risk. Businesses should take these grievances seriously and put in place reliable procedures to audit partner eateries more regularly.
