When a true gem is lost in a tragic incident, the grief is felt by an entire nation. That is exactly what happened after the unfortunate demise of iconic musician Zubeen Garg, who passed away in a scuba diving mishap. His untimely death left millions of fans heartbroken and mourning across India. Now, just days after the tragedy, a viral video allegedly capturing his final moments has surfaced, sparking fresh suspicion and questions surrounding the circumstances of his passing.
Viral clip raises fresh questions over Zubeen Garg’s tragic death
On 19th September, the nation was left in shock after the sudden death of iconic singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore. Initially, reports stated that he passed away during a scuba diving session after experiencing breathing difficulties. Later, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that Zubeen had actually gone swimming in the sea without a life jacket, and that Singapore authorities would be questioning those who had accompanied him.

However, a viral video that surfaced soon after has added new layers of mystery to the tragedy. In the clip, Zubeen can be seen wearing a life jacket and appears a little hesitant to go into the water. Moments later, he seems to be pushed into the sea against his will. Reports also suggest that his trusted associate, Shekhar Goswami, had encouraged him to swim, “Come on, let’s go there, let’s go.”
In the same clip, Zubeen Garg is allegedly heard saying, “Will you go?” to which Shekhar Goswami responded, “Come on.” Another person is heard noting, “You have to come back. This is the best. It’s easy to go.” Furthermore, one person was allegedly heard saying, “How will he get down like this? Should we push him? Take Zubeen along. Zubeen da, it’s right here with you.”

This video is believed to have captured the moment before his first jump into the water. Later, according to reports, Zubeen himself removed the life jacket, saying it was uncomfortable, and jumped in for a second time without any safety gear. It was after this second attempt that he was found floating unresponsive in the sea. He experienced breathing difficulties and was immediately given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased in the ICU around 2.30 pm IST.
What makes the case more troubling are reports that Zubeen had been taken to the sea by Siddhartha Sharma and Shekhar Goswami after a late-night drinking party. The organisers of the North East India Festival, for which Zubeen was in Singapore, claimed they had no knowledge of the yacht visit and were engaged in official meetings when the tragic incident occurred.

The post-mortem report has cited drowning as the cause of death, but the viral video has sparked widespread concern and suspicion. Many are questioning whether negligence or pressure from those accompanying him played a role in the tragic incident. The contradictory statements from his associates like Shekhar Goswami, along with names such as Sandipan Garg, Tanmoy Phukan, and Abhimanyu of the Assam Association being mentioned, have only deepened the uncertainty, leaving fans and the public demanding a thorough investigation into the real circumstances of Zubeen Garg’s untimely demise.
