Trains are always known for travelling and journeys. But workers in the railways might sound boring for some people, but even in such stereotypical conditions, some hidden gems of Indian railways often get attention due to the internet’s uncanny ability to make the most ordinary moments turn into breakout trends. A fleeting glance, a demure move, or even a brief conversation in between the journey can all of a sudden take people’s attention and go viral on social media.

Recently, a brief clip featuring a bearded ticket inspector (TC) going about his rounds on social media. The scene seems to be an AC train cabin, likely a Vande Bharat. The video, which is set to the heartfelt song “Akhiyaan Milavanga” by Arijit Singh from Commando 3, depicts a woman sitting opposite the TC as he checks tickets. With his neatly trimmed beard, calm presence, and effortless charm, he grabbed the attention of viewers straight away. The video soon crossed the confines of Instagram, reaching X (formerly Twitter) and meme pages, where edits and humorous interpretations contributed to its mass appeal.
Train travel already has a nostalgic place in the Indian cultural imagination, and here was a new type of “train crush” moment to appeal to viewers. This is not the first time a random moment has made someone go viral. Social media has consistently pulled ordinary individuals out of nowhere and thrust them into sudden stardom over the years.
How could one possibly forget Arshad Khan, Pakistan’s “blue-eyed chaiwala,” whose picture went viral back in 2016 and even earned him modeling deals? Or Priya Prakash Varrier, who was declared India’s “National Crush” in 2018 with just a wink from a film promotional video clip. More recently, the “Vada Pav Girl” of Indore and the elderly “Baba Ka Dhaba” couple of Delhi also gained overnight popularity courtesy of short, real-life videos that touched an emotional nerve in the audience.
