Here is how the netizens reacted to the Meta CEO’s decision to hide his kid’s faces on social media

Some users on Instagram and other social media platforms lauded his decision of hiding the faces of his daughters to protect their privacy. However, some users called him an imposter because his company has been previously accused of stealing personal information from social media users, especially from Facebook.

Zuckerberg’s decision to not show the faces of his children on social media may be influenced by various reasons. It is not only restricted to this recent post but it is the same in his other posts too. He never reveals the full faces of his children on social media platforms.

One of the users on Instagram stated,

“Fascinated by Zuck’s choice to not have his kids’ faces on his social media platform… I could be wrong, but I think they were speaking to the irony that his business thrives on facial recognition but he doesn’t want to show his own children’s faces… I’m fascinated by adults who choose to plaster their kids’ faces all over their socials.”

Big Tech company CEOs besides Zuckerberg like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs also try to keep their children away from social media

Apple CEO Tim Cook once stated in an interview,

“I don’t have a kid, but I have a nephew that I put some boundaries on. There are some things that I won’t allow; I don’t want them on a social network.”

Is hiding the faces of children on social media to protect their privacy a good decision?

When we notice that such influential public figures who have created social media themselves make a deliberate effort to protect their children from it, it becomes noteworthy that everyone should consider following this step to protect their kids from the dark side of social media.

Why social media is not safe for children?

Digital platforms have a lot of cons too, and when it comes to social media children are very vulnerable. According to certain reports, some parents had to go through threatening circumstances after they shared their kid’s photos on social media. Some reports also suggest that social media platforms like YouTube’s algorithm make videos and posts of children viral.

Some users also revealed that displaying their children’s faces made them easy targets for identity theft and made their kids exposed to predators including pedophiles. Nowadays, facial recognition and the application of AI are everywhere. Therefore, posting pictures of your children will make them easy targets for facial recognition. Tech giants like Google and Facebook collect vast amounts of personal data through social media, personal photos, and other online activities.

So, it is better for a secure future of your child to keep them away from social media until they reach adulthood.
