Swara Bhasker is one of the most versatile and outspoken actors in the Indian film industry. However, unlike other actresses, she is not just known for her powerful performances on screen but also her fearless political and social commentary. Her attendance at protests, her tweets about national issues, and her mainstream media op-eds demonstrate how she is proud of her political and social views. However, because of her advocacy, she has also become a frequent victim of online harassment and trolling.
And now the situation has become such that even Swara Bhasker’s husband, Fahad Ahmad, has not been able to escape this trolling. Swara and her spouse are currently in the news because they are featured on the new celebrity reality show ‘Pati Patni Aur Panga,’ presented by Munawar Faruqui and Sonali Bendre. However, in the midst of this, Swara had to respond to a very unpleasant online troll who was targeting her spouse.

A netizen tried to troll Swara Bhasker’s husband, Fahad Ahmad
Shortly after videos of Pati Patni Aur Panga appeared online, a user on X, previously Twitter, made a crude remark at Swara’s spouse, Fahad Ahmad, making fun of his background and appearance. The user claimed that Swara and Parineeti Chopra were both utilizing their husbands for public relations. With its overtly casteist and classist overtones, the tweet immediately went viral, but not in the way the user had anticipated. The troll wrote:

This twit who describes himself both as a proud Hindu and Ambedkarite does not seem to know that Chhapri is a casteist slang… a derogatory term used to describe a community that fixes ‘chhappars’ or thatched huts…Also, nothing wrong with being a street vendor from Dongri or anywhere, you casteist/classist trash-brain! #CasteistAlert.

Well said, Swara. Many people casually use casteist slurs without understanding their roots or implications. Language matters, especially when it reinforces centuries of discrimination.
