In recent years, cab services have become an essential part of our daily lives. The emergence of smartphones, internet connectivity, and digital payments has transformed the way people commute, thanks to businesses like Uber, Ola, Rapido, and others. Compared to more conventional forms of transportation like buses, cabs, and autorickshaws, these services are practical, effective, and frequently more affordable.

Despite their many advantages, these taxi-hailing services currently face a number of difficulties. The most critical issues among them are those about drivers. Although they are uncommon, incidents of harassment, collisions, and even crimes involving drivers or passengers have occurred, raising safety concerns. Recently, a video has been going viral in which a woman was seen falling off a Rapido two-wheeler, sparking worries about passenger safety. Notably, Rapido has also reacted to the incident.

According to Priyanka, the driver was not wearing a helmet and had refused to give her one. She added that the driver was making rash cuts, evading, and going the wrong way on major roads, which made her heart race. She began filming the ride to capture the experience. Later on, she shared her video on Instagram to let everyone know what happened to her. In the caption of her video, she wrote,

@rapidoapp @rapidocaptain ek bs aap logo pe khud se jyada bhrosa tha, apne b tod diya. Well, jokes apart, I am okay and went straight to office post this incident. This might be the first time where I felt super unsafe with the way the Rapido driver was driving.

Priyanka further mentioned how the driver was driving carelessly and did not even give her a helmet to wear. She wrote,

First, I asked for helmet to which he relied no need to wear it (he was himself not wearing it). Then, his super chill nature despite of breaking so many traffic rules altogether was bothering me. He was taking wrong side on each main road and with those twist and turns my heartbeat was racing even more. I took out my phone to record all this. I even told him why did u cross the road and took the wrong side when the metro is on the other side, he said “mam due to the traffic I did it” and he was listening to music, chanting “Har Har Mahadev” to each shiv kanwad tent on the way.

The accident happened when the Rapido bike and another two-wheeler crashed in front of a Delhi Police car. Priyanka says the police were present but did not step in. In the end, she gave the injured driver her money before getting off and walking away. Priyanka wrote,

Then suddenly our vehicle hit to the other 2 wheeler coming from the other side right in front of the Delhi police car. Since, rapido driver was injured so police didn’t take any action and I also paid him then and there. Post that, I went to the metro station by walking.

She criticized the company for employing careless drivers and failing to put passenger safety first. Priyanka concluded,

With all this incident, I just want to highlight @rapidoapp @rapidocaptain to hire people who are responsible rather than those nonchalant guys who ride like they have 9 lives.
