Zomato is once again making headlines, this time for charging customers a “rain surge” fee even when there’s no rain at the delivery location or the restaurant. A Zomato customer took to social media to highlight the bizarre experience. The frustrated customer noted that they were charged a rain-related fee while ordering from a restaurant located right next to their building.
The incident is fit to spark a discussion on social media, especially after the customer pointed out that they ordered from a restaurant located right next to their building.

The Zomato customer, Santosh, took to X and complained about the extra rain surge charge despite having clear weather
In the post, he shared a screenshot of his order summary, which shows that he was charged Rs 15 surge fees for rain. The user tagged Zomato and its CEO, Deepinder Goyal, and wrote,

This isn’t the first time, as many users have previously shared and complained about similar experiences of allegedly arbitrary surge fees.

Zomato responded to the post with a clarification statement
Zomato Care replied to the tweet, stating that the rain surge fee was charged because it was raining at the restaurant’s location. They asked the customer to reach out to them for other queries. Zomato replied,
