Most tenants don’t come across kind landlords in India; they often face difficulty adjusting with nosy landlords who often show up for random “inspections”. They often pester for increasing the rent or charge extra for bare minimum discrepancies. We often find the harassed tenants sharing their stories on social media. The landlords also pull back when it comes to getting back the security deposit.

I stayed in a flat in Bengaluru for 8 years, never met the landlord or his family. But his dog was in the apartment when there was some painting work in the landlord’s house!

It’s a big hassle for landlords if occupants vacate the house.

They need to spend lot of money to re-paint, repair and list their house in the market again.

Maybe because you’re a good tenant. Even my landlord in the uk did the same. Never gave him any trouble or concerns. Rent was on direct debit. And I was the only tenant in the block paying the cheapest rent. He said it was worth him charging less as I was good.
