Food delivery giant Zomato is once again facing widespread criticism after a Jain customer alleged she was served non-vegetarian food, directly violating her religious beliefs. The customer mentioned that she ordered vegetarian food from the popular fast-food chain Domino’s India via Zomato but received a non-veg item instead.
The X user, Reshma Jain, took to the social media platform, X, and shared a video displaying the non-veg item she received
The frustrated customer tagged @dominos_india and @zomato and shared her disappointment, calling the mistake disgraceful and shameful. She also emphasised that serving non-vegetarian food to a Jain customer is unacceptable and offensive to religious beliefs. Shring the clip she wrote,
It is utterly disgraceful and deeply shameful that a brand as big as yours could serve non-vegetarian food to a Jain customer, something completely unacceptable and offensive to my religious beliefs.

The post is definitely going to cause outrage across social platforms. A mistake like this calls for accountability and strict action. Jainism is one of the world’s oldest religions, which follows non-violence and strictly prohibits the consumption of meat and certain root vegetables. Dietary restrictions for Jains are not just preferences but deeply sacred tenets of faith.
Zomato replied to the Jain customer’s complaint
Zomato Cares responded to Reshma’s tweet, stating that they take their customers’ dietary preferences very seriously and would never intend to disrespect them. They said,
Hi Reshma, this is truly shocking for us as we take your dietary preferences very seriously and would never intend to disrespect them. Please share your order ID via DM so we can resolve this at the earliest with the restaurant partners.
