He wrote a straightforward post on Facebook, accusing political groups of inciting this conflict against him. He claimed that people have been waiting to harm him and that now they had their opportunity because a Pakistani actor is in his most recent movie. In his post, he wrote,

I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. The dirty tricks deptt of Jumla Party has been awaiting a chance to attack him. They think they’ve got it at last. He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned.
Naseeruddin Shah said those who oppose Diljit only want Indians to stop communicating with their Pakistani friends and relatives who live there. He added,
What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever i feel like it. And my response to those who will say “Go to Pakistan” is “GO TO KAILASA

Why is a controversy around Diljit Dosanjh’s recent film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’?
Diljit Dosanjh’s recent film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ is currently facing heat in India for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir as a lead actress in the movie. Things took a serious turn when Diljit posted a preview for a song featuring Hania Aamir and a trailer for the movie on his social media account.

The online criticism suddenly turns into a gigantic boycott campaign, with several prominent people supporting the boycott of the film. Many, including the film organizations AICWA and FWICE, sent emails to the producers of Border 2 as well as the Indian Prime Minister and Home Minister urging them to take strong action against Diljit Dosanjh and his movie.
For those who are unaware, it all started when a Pakistani actress received backlash for remarks she made on the internet following a terrorist attack in Indian Kashmir in April that killed 26 tourists. After this, India accused Pakistan of being responsible for the April attack. However, Pakistan denied, and as a result, India launched airstrikes within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Later, Pakistan also retaliated with missiles. With scores of casualties, it was the deadliest military conflict between the neighbors in decades.
Amid this, Hania allegedly called India’s strikes “shameful” and “cowardly” in remarks posted on social media. In response, Indian netizens have responded with protests and demands boycott of the Punjabi-language movie.

Subsequently, the movie was released internationally on 27th June 2025, but not in India.
What does Diljit Dosanjh have to say about this controversy?
In response to criticism regarding its casting, Diljit Dosanjh has defended his latest movie in his latest interview with BBC Asian Network. Speaking about the controversy, Diljit stated that during the February filming, “everything was fine” between the two nations. He said,
When the film was being made, the situation was OK… After that, there have been a lot of things… that are not in our hands.
Diljit added,
Obviously they’ve put a lot of money in the film and when they made it none of this had happened – so we were like, they are already going to have a loss.
Speaking about Hania Aamir, he said that they didn’t spend much time while working on the film, and everything was very professional between them. Although he added that it’s a very good experience.
