Smoking in public transport is not just unhealthy but also dangerous, as it exposes everyone to harmful smoke in a confined space. It often leads to arguments, discomfort, and even panic among passengers. A similar incident recently occurred inside an Indian Railways passenger train, where a woman was caught smoking thereby creating chaos.
Woman smoking on Indian Train video goes viral
Smoking inside Indian trains and railway premises is strictly prohibited under Section 167 of the Railway Act, 1989. The rule is meant to safeguard passengers from health hazards and prevent fire-related risks. While most people are aware of this law and abide by it, incidents like a recent viral video from a passenger train show that a few still ignore or remain unaware of the regulations.

The viral clip shows a woman smoking inside an AC coach of a passenger train in India. An onlooker, disturbed by the act, confronted her and asked her to step outside if she wished to smoke. Instead of cooperating, the woman reacted angrily, lashed out at fellow passengers, and even demanded that the recording be stopped. At one point during the heated argument, she was heard saying,

“Main tumhare paiso ka nahi fukti hoon.”
As the matter escalated, a Ticket Checker stepped in to resolve the issue. He reminded the woman that smoking on trains is a punishable offence and laid down three options before her: paying the fine, being let off without penalty, or handing over the matter to the police. At this point, the woman panicked and broke down into tears, realizing the seriousness of her actions.
While she did agree to go out she was more concerned regarding the recording of the incident. It was visible that she is about to cry and then sat on her seat again.

A man named Mayank Burmee took to social media platform X and shared the viral clip of a woman smoking inside an Indian passenger train. The video shows her not only violating railway rules but also arguing with fellow passengers who confronted her. While it appeared that she was most likely unaware of the strict ban on smoking inside trains, her bigger concern seemed to be the fact that the incident was being recorded.

What “options” is the TTE blurting out? Will these “options” be given to a man? There are no options for such a crime. 🚬 can cause fire in a train. The only option is to give harsh punishment. This रोना धोना is just a नाटक to escape the fine.

Using a woman card everywhere is an insult all women and their rights.

TT should be sacked first. She was smoking inside an AC compartment while holding a cloth sheet. If ashes had fallen on it, the sheet could have caught fire and led to a major accident. It could have been catastrophic.
