Food delivery mix-ups can be frustrating for anyone, but for vegetarians, receiving the wrong order can feel especially disgusting. After all, a vegetarian expects their food to be cooked and of course meat-free. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened to a man in Hyderabad, who ordered a vegetarian meal on Zomato but ended up with uncooked chicken that left him both disappointed and disturbed.

Hyderabadi man shares shocking Zomato experience as he received uncooked chicken pieces and paper inside a veg meal

For Hyderabad resident Aditya Irri, what was supposed to be a simple meal turned into a deeply unpleasant surprise. He had ordered curd rice from Rice Bowl, Kondapur, through Zomato, expecting a light vegetarian dish. Instead, when he opened the meal, he claims to have found uncooked chicken pieces and even paper inside.

Disturbed by the discovery, Aditya took to X to share his experience, writing,

“Ordered curd rice from Rice Bowl, Kondapur, Hyderabad via @zomato in Hyderabad & shockingly found uncooked chicken pieces + paper inside 🤢. This is a serious food safety violation! Requesting action from @FoodsafetyTS @CommissionrGHMC @hydcitypolice @cyberabadpolice #FoodSafety.”

What stands out in his post is not just his disappointment but also the seriousness with which he treated the matter. By tagging Telangana Food Safety officials, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner, the Hyderabad City Police, and Cyberabad Police, Aditya made it clear that this was more than a case of poor service, it was, in his view, a serious food safety violation.

To support his claim, he also attached photographic evidence, which clearly showed the alleged contaminants in his meal.

While not pleasant to look at, the images gave weight to his concerns and highlighted the importance of accountability in food delivery services.

Soon after the post was made public, Zomato responded

Without much delay, Zomato stepped in with what seemed like its standard customer service reply. Addressing Aditya directly on X, the platform wrote,

“This is deeply concerning, Aditya and we want to get to the bottom of it. Please DM us your order ID, so we can raise this with the restaurant partner immediately.”

While prompt, the response came across as generic, reflecting the typical way food delivery platforms handle complaints publicly before taking the conversation to private channels.

Not the first such case from Kondapur

This is not the first time Kondapur has been in the spotlight for food delivery troubles. In October 2024, Zomato and one of its partner restaurants in the same Hyderabad locality were fined ₹50,000 after a customer received the wrong parcel.

The latest complaint from Aditya Irri, a software developer, only adds to the concerns around food safety and delivery accountability in the area.

In his post, Aditya not only tagged Zomato but also sought intervention from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Telangana Food Safety Department. Responding to his grievance, GHMC wrote:,

“Dear Citizen, the issue has been noted and brought to the notice of the assistant food commissioner.”
