IIT has always been the big shot for the people who envision their career through that. After rigorous practice for years to crack the JEE exam, so took several attempts of that in order to get into that college. The amount of dedication getting into that college requires is impeccable! If you have no clue what I’m talking about, I’d suggest you watch The Kota Factory. IIT is a tier-1 college for engineering and every seat counts there.
But there are some people who got in, dropped out of IIT and later became successful in their field:

1. Mukesh Ambani
One of the leading capitalists and the richest person in India is a part of the list and that is shocking, yep. He took the IIT-JEE exam and joined IIT-Bombay. But he left IIT-B to join ICT because he wanted to pursue Chemical Engineering.
During an interview with Money Life, Ambani said,
“Nobody asked me to do Chemical Engineering. I chose to study science and which college I would go to. By that time, in the early ’70s, Vimal was a fairly successful textile brand. So everybody expected me to do textile engineering. I shocked them by saying that I would go to IIT. Since Inter-science results were announced after the IIT entrance, I joined IIT, Bombay. After the Inter-science results in a few weeks later, I left and joined the University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT) along with my friends.”
2. Prashant Bhushan
Prashant became legit famous because of the fine he had to pay for tweeting critical tweets about the Cheif Justice of India. He initially started his grads in IIT-Madras, but then after one semester, he dropped out to pursue a 2 year BSc course. He pursued this course at Princeton University, even during that he dropped that and returned to India.

After that in 1983, he started off his law career and is now the man with 500 PILs to his credit.
3. Vinod Rai
Though he cleared the entrance for IIT, he did not enroll himself for the course itself. Rather he went to the University of Delhi to study Economics and passed out with a master’s degree.
4. Shashvat Nakrani
Back in 2018, Shashvat co-founded the app, BharatPe with Ashneer Grover. In 2015 he did take admission to IIT Delhi, but then he dropped out during this final year and is now the youngest person who got a feature in the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List.
5. Narayana Murthy
Though he, fortunately, cracked the JEE entrance exams for IIT. Narayana Murthy did not get admission into any of them since his father was unable to bear the fees. So he did his graduation from the National Institute of Engineering. And for his master’s, he went to IIT Kanpur.
6. Azhar Iqubal
During his 7th semester at IIT Delhi, he decided to drop out. After that, he started posting news in precise, which led to the creation of Inshorts. Azhar is now the co-founder and the CEO of the company.
