Harbhajan Singh Responds After Lalit Modi Shares Video Of Him Slapping Sreesanth After 17 Years

The former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh criticized ex-IPL (Indian Premier League) chief Lalit Modi for leaking the infamous ‘slapgate’ video from IPL 2008. The clip includes Harbajan Singh losing his cool on the cricket field and slapping another player, S. Sreesanth. The video resurfaced almost 18 years after the incident.

This incident has garnered a lot of debate and negative attention for the players. Harbajan Singh claimed that the former IPL chairman released the video out of “selfish motives” and should have refrained from doing so.

Lalit Modi, the ex-chairman of the Indian Premier League, appeared on former Australian captain Michael Clarke’s podcast, Beyond 23. There, he talked about many incidents and stories from the early years of the IPL. He also spoke about the slapgate incident of Harbajan Singh from IPL 2008.

The incident includes Harbajan Singh, a player of the Mumbai Indians, slapping S. Sreesanth, a player of Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings), on the cricket field. This incident is widely known because of the popularity of IPL matches, but the slapgate video was never released to the public until now.

Now on the podcast with Michael Clarke, Lalit Modi, ex-IPL chief, has released the unseen footage of Harbhajan Singh slapping Sreesanth from IPL 2008.

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh slams Lalit Modi for releasing the “slapgate” video

Harbhajan Singh hits back at IPL’s ex-chairman Lalit Modi for releasing the unseen slapgate video from IPL 2008 after almost 18 years. He recently attended the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, where he was asked about his reaction to the slapgate clip from 17 years ago being made public.

When asked about the video, he told Insta Bollywood, Yes, the video has gone viral. It was a very unfortunate incident, and I have said and accepted this on many stages and occasions that I have made the mistake.

He also added, humans make mistakes, and I did one too. Here, on the occasion of Ganesh Puja, I have requested Lord Ganesh to forgive me for all my mistakes, because we are the ones who forget, but you are the one who can forgive. Humans make mistakes. Mistake happens.

“Haan toh video viral hui hai… wo dekhiye itna unfortunate incident hai jiske baare me main kai manch par bol chuka hu ki merese galti hui hai aur… galtiyan hoti hai insaan se hi hoti hai aur mere se bhi galti hui thi aur maine wo galti ko har stage pe bola hai aur aj bappa ke yha pe bhi aaya hu aur yha pe bhi bola hai merese galti hui hai aur aage bhi koi galti hogi toh… Hum toh bulne walo mein se hai tum jo ho bakshane wale ho toh hame bakshna, insan hain galtiyan hoti rhti hai”

He further added, the way the video has been leaked is wrong. It shouldn’t have happened. They might have a selfish motive behind releasing the video. Something that happened 18 years ago, people have forgotten, and they are reminding people about it.

I feel bad about that incident because we were all playing, and everyone had things going on in their mind. Sometimes such mistakes happen that when we think about them, we feel ashamed of it.
