Dhanashree Verma Responds To Yuzvendra Chahal’s ‘Be Your Own Sugar Daddy’ T-Shirt During Divorce Hearing

Once known for openly expressing their love for each other, today it seems that Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal have become enemies. The pair became the most popular couple on social media after getting married in 2020. It appeared as though they would spend the rest of their lives together, producing reels and joking around with each other. But after only four years of marriage, the couple filed for divorce, and things drastically changed. There was much whispering and gossip about their abrupt breakup.

Some discovered conspiracy theories about their connection, while many others assumed it was just another celebrity couple. Making their split more dramatic, Yuzvendra Chahal chose to wear a T-shirt with unusual text during their divorce proceedings. The text on the T-shirt says, ‘Be your own sugar daddy.’ Netizens took this gesture as an attack on Dhanashree. Later, in his interviews, Chahal also clarified that he did this purposely, as he wanted to give a message. Now, Dhanashree Verma has also responded to the whole controversy.

Dhanashree Verma talked about her divorce from Yuzvendra Chahal

In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, Dhanashree Verma acknowledged that divorce is never simple and should not be celebrated. She clarified that rather than making remarks that might have gained popular approval but undermined family values, she opted to maintain her maturity. Speaking about this, she said,

I don’t want to disrupt my family values or his family values. We have to keep respect intact.

She added that while it is important to acknowledge pain, being apart should not be a reason to treat one another disrespectfully. Furthermore, in an interview, Dhanashree Verma acknowledged that even though she had mentally prepared herself, she nevertheless broke down on the day of the ruling. She disclosed that she ended up sobbing excessively in front of everyone because the emotions were too intense. Dhanashree also remembered that she trembled inside the car from the emotional pressure as she escaped the court through the back gate to dodge the cameras. She says,

I still remember when I was standing there and the verdict was about to be given. Even though we were so well-prepared mentally, I got so emotional. I started howling in front of everybody. I couldn’t even express what I was feeling at that point. I just remember that I just kept crying, I was just howling and crying. Of course! All of that happened, and he (Chahal) walked out first.

However, Dhanashree Verma did not realize the pictures of Chahal’s T-shirt were becoming viral until she looked at her phone. She acknowledged that she was taken aback by her ex-husband’s attire. Dhanashree Verma also added that she knew that she would be held responsible for the breakup, even before it all started. Reacting to Chahal’s T-shirt, she says,

You know that people are going to blame you. Before I had even known that this T-shirt stunt had happened, we were all aware that people were going to blame me for this.

She added,

Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyu pehna hai?

In the recent podcast with Raj Shamani, Yuzvendra Chahal revealed so many new things about his divorce. Speaking about all things, he also revealed why he chose to wear that infamous ‘Be Your Own Sugar Daddy’ T-shirt during divorce proceedings. He said there was no intention of disrespecting or offending anyone. However, he admitted that something from the opposing side made him rethink his position and feel obliged to respond. Consequently, Chahal wore the notorious T-shirt. Speaking about this, he says,

Mujhe nahi karna tha drama… I just wanted to give one message, and maine woh de diya. Kuch cheez hua tha, and maine kaha ab sambhaal lo… Ab mujhe kisi ki parwah nahi. Maine na kisi ko abuse kara, bus mujhe message dena tha.

Later, in his interview, Chahal also answered whether he is a cheater or not. Speaking about this, he said that he has never cheated anyone and is very loyal.
