Woman took to X, highlighting price difference between Zomato and Swiggy for the same order
Recently, an X user named Gargi Thakur took to the social media platform X to share an interesting observation about the popular food delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy. Both platforms are widely used for ordering food from a variety of restaurants and eateries, making them household names for food lovers. Gargi’s post, however, stood out because it highlighted a clear price difference between the two services for the exact same order.

In her tweet, Gargi pointed out that while she ordered the same items from the same restaurant and for the same location, Swiggy turned out to be the more affordable option. Her caption read,
“Same order, same restaurant, same location btw. @zomato do better.”
Along with this, she attached screenshots of the bills from both Zomato and Swiggy, which showed that the total amount payable on Swiggy came to only Rs. 268, while the same order from Zomato amounted to Rs. 309. The difference of Rs. 41 is stark and certainly worth considering while ordering food from delivery platforms.

By tweeting this, Gargi effectively called out Zomato in a very public manner. Saying that it prompted a response from Zomato would be an understatement.
Here is how Zomato responded to the price difference tweet
Zomato responded to Gargi Thakur’s tweet about the price difference by clarifying how pricing on their platform works. In their reply, they stated,
“The prices on our platform are determined solely by our restaurant partners, as Zomato acts only as an intermediary between customers and restaurants.”
This made it clear that Zomato itself does not set the prices, but rather facilitates the order between the customer and the restaurant.

They further added,
“Please DM us the restaurant details, and we will certainly pass on your feedback to the restaurant partner and request them to look into it.”

This showed that Zomato took the complaint seriously and was willing to communicate with the restaurant to address the concern. But it really happen? That’s a question which can only be answered by Zomato itself!
