Imagine ordering something online only to receive items that weigh less than what you paid for—and worse, they’re spoiled or past their prime. That’s exactly what happened to a Blinkit customer who ordered dates. Not only were the dates underweight, but they were also aged and unfit for consumption. She took to X and shared about the incident.
Customer shocked after receiving underweight and spoilt dates from Blinkit
A Blinkit customer named Mona recently took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a disappointing experience. She had ordered 200 grams of fresh dates from Blinkit, but what she received was far from what was promised. According to her post, the packet weighed only 165 grams including the packaging, and the dates inside were dusty, spoilt, and visibly aged.

She didn’t hold back while sharing her experience—she directly tagged Albinder Dhindsa, the CEO of Blinkit, in her tweet.

“@albinder Hi there, today i ordered 200 gms of fresh dates from Blinkit. I got 165 gms with packaging and spoilt or aged dates.”
Mona backed her claim with pictures of the dates and even used a weighing scale to show the weight difference.
What made things worse was that when she contacted customer care, they allegedly began bargaining instead of offering a clear solution. She demanded either a full refund or a proper replacement with 200 grams of truly fresh dates.

“Your customer care is bargaining with me. Either replace with 200 gms of fresh dates or refund. They are dusty as hell just not captured in the pic.”

Customer further shared how she was left frustrated with Blinkit’s refund process
In a follow-up comment, Mona shared more details about the frustrating experience she faced while trying to get a refund from Blinkit. According to her, the customer care executive first offered just Rs 11, then Rs 26, as compensation for the spoilt and underweight dates. It was only after she mentioned that she had shared screenshots as proof that the full amount was finally refunded.
“@albinder first she offered 11 rupees, then 26. When I said I sent you the screenshots, she refunded the entire amount.”
Mona expressed her surprise at how difficult it was to get a fair resolution, especially considering she had never faced such issues before. She also pointed out that she usually orders from Swiggy Instamart, hinting that her experience with Blinkit was an exception from her usual expectations.
“Cmon, do we need to get to this for a refund? Am as surprised cause I have not received poor quality before. To be fair, I mostly order from Swiggy Insta.”

Her comment highlights how quick commerce platforms still have a long way to go in building trust through prompt, hassle-free, and safe service.
Though the money has been refunded after a lot of hassel, so far no response has been made by the CEO of Binkit considering he was tagged in the tweet. What are your thoughts on this incident? Do share via the comments below.
