1. Amitabh Bachchan
The superstar of Bollywood industry is definitely expensive for producers. But that doesn’t stop him from being down to earth. When Deepak Sawant his make-up artist presented him a Bhojpuri film named ‘Ganga, Gangotri and Ganga Devi’ when he later turned into a director, Amitabh Bachchan accepted to play a role in the movie for free. He also did the film ‘Black’ free of charge. He said that being a part of such a brilliant movie was above anything, for him.
2. Rani Mukherjee
From the time Rani Mukherjee appeared in Karan Johar’s film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, they shared a beautiful bond of friendship. Later, while playing a brief role in Karan Johar’s movie ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ the actress did it free of charge.
3. Shahid Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor is one among the brilliant actors of the Bollywood industry, known across the places for his acting in ‘Haider’ directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. He did it for free so that the budget of the movie remains stable. Besides acclaimed widely for Shahid Kapoor’s amazing acting, the film won 5 awards namely Best Screenplay, Best costume design, Best music direction, Best choreography, Best male playback singer.

4. Shah Rukh Khan
The megastar of the industry is one of the actors who are paid a huge amount for their role in the movie. Despite this, he refused to charge for the film ‘Bhoothnath Returns’. He also did the film ‘Krazzy 4’ free of charge. Shah Rukh played the role in the movie ‘Hey Ram’, directed by Kamal Hasan for free.
5. Sonam Kapoor
Sonam Kapoor played a character opposite Farhan Akhter in the film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. She only took Rs. 11 as a symbol of appreciation. Flying Sikh who is Milkha Singh himself took Re. 1 which was cast in 1958 in his biopic written by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra.

6. Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone made her first debut movie with Shah Rukh Khan in the film ‘Om Shanti Om’. Deepika currently is one among the actresses who are paid a huge amount for their role in the movies. But she acted in the movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ for free. She believed that she is already heavily blessed to do her first film with Shah Rukh Khan himself.
7. Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Nawazuddin Siddiqui took Rs. 1 for appearing in the film named ‘Manto’ directed by Nandita Das. Along with Nawazuddin, his co-actors namely Rishi Kapoor, Gurdas Maan, Javed Akhter, Rajshree Deshpande, Swanand Kirkire, Ranvir Shorey did the movie for free. The movie was widely appreciated in many film festivals including Toronto, Asia Pacific Screen Award, etc , where Nawazuddin Siddiqui received the best actor award.
8. Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan did not charge fees for his film PK. On the other hand, he wanted 33% shares of the venture’s profit. He held the view that people across the place will love his performance and will be inspired to watch him more onscreen.
9. Meena Kumari
Meena Kumari appeared in the film ‘Pakeezah’ which was released in 1972 directed by Kamal Amrohi. She took Rs.1 as a token of appreciation for her classics. She died a few weeks after the movie released, due to liver cirrhosis. The film was acclaimed all over the places.

10. Salman Khan
Salman Khan has a soft corner for his friends. He appeared in many movies only because of their request. He did his role in the film ‘Tees Maar Khan’, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Son of Sardaar’ for free.
