Bachelor flat condition Bengaluru

Finding an apartment can be a difficult and stressful process in large cities like Delhi, Gurugram, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Pune. It might be difficult to find a suitable apartment that meets all of your criteria. It becomes a headache when landlords and housing organizations have varying standards for tenants.

Large cities have a competitive rental market, and landlords have the power to choose who lives in their houses. Regrettably, some landlords engage in discriminatory behavior. This makes the journey of finding an apartment for the tenant more difficult.

For instance, some landlords forbid single women and bachelors from renting their flats. This form of discrimination is totally unjust in addition to being against the law. Due to restrictions on housing choices based on gender or marital status, people are less free to pick where they wish to reside.

Similar to the last example, some landlords forbid guests from staying over, and this might be a deal-breaker for some renters.

Furthermore, the rental market is getting more and more competitive. Due to this, landlords are searching for renters with exceptional educational and professional histories or those who can afford higher rents. To determine this, some landlords even want access to their LinkedIn page.

While the apartment hunting process can be frustrating for tenants, we rarely get to hear from the landlord’s perspective. We mostly hear about the tenant’s experience and their struggles to find a suitable apartment. However, we must acknowledge that landlords also have their own set of challenges and concerns.

A Bengaluru landlord has shared his frightening ordeal renting his property

The Bengaluru landlord recently went on Reddit’s r/bangalore forum to share a frightening occurrence that’s every landlord’s worst fear come true.

According to the landlord, an “educated bachelor” who worked for a major MNC had rented his two-bedroom apartment. Following three to four months of on-time rent payments, the renter vanished. However, after a while, he returned and demanded his security deposit back. He also informed him that he had to leave the apartment.

To make the rental market more inclusive and equitable, landlords must, on the one hand, recognize and address discrimination. However, on the other hand, tenants also need to recognize the landlord’s viewpoint and concerns. Because they are tenants who are going to live on someone else’s property. So, they must recognize that it might just be a piece of property for them, but for landlords, that property is everything.
