Akshay Kumar Reveals His Son Aarav Left Home At The Age Of 15 And Doesn’t Live With Him

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar made his way into the industry with sheer hard work and is known for his humble nature. Akshay married actress and author Twinkle Khanna in 2001 who is known for her witty and humorous writing style. She is the daughter of legendary actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia.

Akshay and Twinkle are parents to son Aarav and daughter Nitara. Akshay keeps his children away from the limelight and rarely speaks about them in public. He wants to keep the lives of his children private.

But recently, on cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s brand new talk show, ‘Dhawan Karenge’ on Jio Cinema, Akshay opened up about his son Aarav

During the interaction on the Show, Akshay revealed that Aarav is not interested in Bollywood and doesn’t want to be a part of films. The proud father also revealed that his son wants to pursue a career in fashion. Aarav was born in 2002 and turned 21 last year.

Akshay said that Aarav is a very simple boy

Akshay spoke about how he and his wife raised Aarav to be a simple man. As per a report by The Indian Express, Akshay told Shikhar,

“I am happy the way Twinkle and I have brought up Aarav; he is a very simple boy. My daughter, on the other hand, likes clothes”

Talking about Aarav’s career choices, Akshay revealed that neither he nor Twinkle ever forced Aarav to follow in his footsteps and be a part of cinema. Akshay said,

We never forced him to do anything; he is interested in fashion; he doesn’t want to be a part of cinema. He came to me and said that ‘I don’t want to do films. I said this is your life, do what you want to do’.”

Aarav left home at the age of 15

On the show, the actor also opened up about his son’s decision to leave home at the age of 15 to study abroad. He emphasized that this decision reflects his son’s independence and self-reliance. Akshay revealed that he had initial apprehensions about Aarav’s decision to leave home at such a young age. But despite his reservations, Akshay couldn’t hold his son back, as Akshay himself had left home at 14.

Akshay said,

“My son Aarav is studying at the university in London. He left home at the age of 15. He was always fond of studying and wanted to stay alone. It was his decision to move even though I didn’t want him to go. However, I could not stop him because I left my home at the age of 14″

Akshay praised Aarav for his simplicity, emphasizing how he manages all his household chores, including cooking and laundry, and prefers buying clothes from second-hand thrift stores to avoid wastage. Akshay said:

“He does his own laundry, he is a good cook, does the utensils and doesn’t even want to buy expensive clothes. In fact, he goes to a second-hand store, Thrifty, to buy clothes because he doesn’t believe in wastage.”

From the conversation, we can understand that the couple are proud parents to Aarav and their daughter Nitara who was born in 2012.
