In reaction to the criticism, Aadar Jain has now explained his remarks, stating that, in contrast to popular assumption, he had said “20 years” rather than “four years.”

Additionally, he claimed that his silence and his remarks were misunderstood. Speaking to the Times of India, he said:
They say that silence is respectable to the point where things cross the line. When things cross the line, then silence is a weakness, not a strength. There are so many false narratives, false assumptions, but no fact-checkers. Unfortunately, what happens is when people make up stories and say certain things, the people who get affected are the people involved and their families. In this scenario from day one, there’s been so many things written. Out of respect, everyone has been silent about it. People then take liberty to say what they want.
Aadar said that he was brought up to respect everyone, regardless of their origin. Despite this, individuals had taken a brief excerpt from his speech out of context and created their own judgments. He said:

It’s unfair for her (pointing towards Alekha) and her family, me and my family, her (directing at Tara) and her family. Obviously, there’s no truth to any of it.
Speaking about Alekha, his current wife, Aadar stated that she is among his closest friends and was also aware of the situation’s truth. He pointed out that everyone has a past and one should not defame the other just because a relationship does not work out.

Alekha Advani also dismissed rumors, calling them baseless
Alekha Advani also denied the reports, saying they were baseless and unneeded because she and Aadar have been friends for many years. Alekha emphasized that Tara Sutaria was aware of their mutual connection for a long time. Speaking about this, she said,
I don’t have anything to say because I know the truth. I’ve lived next to this guy for my whole life. We’ve grown up together. We’ve been in each other’s friends and lives and circles for how many ever years and literally seen each other through everything. Suddenly it became like this whole other narrative and a whole other thing which was not really fair or nice. Because even she (Tara) knows that we (Aadar and I)’ve been friends for so long. This whole story is baseless.
When Aadar Jain allegedly called his 4-year relationship with Tara Sutaria a time pass
Aadar Jain and Alekha Advani married in February 2025 in a dreamy wedding setting. However, Aadar Jain recently found himself at the center of controversy after a comment he made during his wedding celebrations went viral.
Online video footage showed Aadar making jokes about “timepass” in regard to his previous relationships. Many speculated that he was referring to his relationship with Tara Sutaria, which lasted for four years and ended in early 2023. At their Sangeet ceremony, Aadar Jain revealed his love for Alekha Advani and how he had always desired to be with her but was never able to do so. He added that she had unintentionally kept him waiting for twenty years, but that it had all been worthwhile because it had brought them to this moment.

Internet users quickly connected this comment to his connection with Tara, thinking he had written off their previous relationship as a passing affair. Tara fans criticized the actor for being disrespectful in the comment, which sparked a lot of internet backlash.
