‘I am not interested in dreaming about these things,’ said Owaisi when asked what he would have done if he were PM during Pahalgam attack
During a press conference in Pune on Tuesday, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi was asked an interesting question about the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The reporter wanted to know what he would have done if he were the Prime Minister during the attack. Rather than getting drawn into a hypothetical scenario, Owaisi gave a grounded and practical response that immediately caught attention.

“Mere bhai, ye khwab dekhne ka mujhe shaukh nahi” (My brother, I do not dream about these things).
He added,
“Main reality ko accept karta hu. Hamara maqsad waha jaakar baithne ka nahi hai na mantri banne ka hai.” (I focus on reality and understand my limits. My goal is not just to hold the Prime Minister post or become ministers.)
He emphasized that he prefers to concentrate on his current responsibilities rather than speculate about hypothetical situations.
Owaisi said India should have given a befitting reply to Pakistan and not stop the war
During the same interaction, Owaisi expressed that India had a strong opportunity to respond to Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. He said,

“As an Indian national main keh raha hu ki hamare paas ek behtareen cheez thi ki ham unhe pahalgam ke baad befitting reply dete ye kyu ruk gayi mujhe nahi maalum” (As an Indian, I would like to say that there was an opportunity for us to give a befitting reply to Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. I am wondering why they stopped).
Owaisi pointed out that a war-like situation had emerged, as drones from Pakistan were flying over the western borders, stretching from Gujarat to Kashmir. He stressed that the entire nation was prepared to respond strongly, but the government halted the military action.

He added,
“Poora desh taiyaar tha ki aap unko muh tod jawab do naak ghaso unki aapne nahi kia phir aap Parliament mein baithkar bolte ho ki ham PoK haasil karenge.” (The entire nation was ready for you to give them a strong, crushing response, but you didn’t. And now you sit in Parliament and talk about gaining PoK).
He further said,
“Bar bar aise lamhe nahi aate, aapne usko kho dia” (Such opportunities do not come again, but the government lost the chance)
By saying so, he was referring to the decision to stop operations after striking terrorist hideouts and airport targets in Pakistan.

In conclusion, Owaisi’s remarks reflected his criticism of the government’s handling of the Pahalgam attack and its approach toward Pakistan. It is important to note, however, that following the Pahalgam attack, India carried out military strikes under Operation Sindoor on April 22, which were paused but not ended. We can only hope that no terror attacks occur again and that peace prevails.
