Since YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia appeared on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, the show has been receiving backlash for Ranveer’s controversial remark to a contestant. A police complaint has been made against the two over the alleged use of ‘abusive language’ on the comedy show. Though Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, issued a public apology, the criticism about his obscene joke continues. The Assam Chief Minister declared that the Assam Police had registered an FIR against all those involved in the show. Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party and other opposition parties also condemned his vulgar remarks.

Amidst this social media influencer Uorfi Javed reacted to the hate and came out in support of her ‘friend’ Samay Raina

Defending her friend Samay, Uorfi acknowledged that while Ranveer’s comment was ‘distasteful,’ but argued that he does not deserve an arrest.

On Monday, she took to her Instagram story to share her viewpoint on the current controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Uorfi wrote,

“You don’t like certain people you don’t like the things they do or say but demanding for them to go to jail for that? Are you serious? Ummmm… I don’t know. Samay is a friend, I have his back but even rest of the people on the panel what they said was distasteful yes but I don’t think they deserve to go to jail for that.”

Uorfi Javed has previously appeared on India’s Got Latent

While she was on the show, a contestant used abusive language, calling her a “b***h” and inquiring about her sexual history. Following that she walked out from the show. During that time she had clarified that Samay and the entire team had consoled her and they have been nice to her since then. She wrote,

“Also in no way I blame @maisamayhoon! He is a friend, I’m talking about the contestants! The entire team came and consoled me. Samay has nothing but nice to me since then.”

Samay also appeared on Uorfi’s show, Follow Kar Lo Yaar, which was released last year on OTT.

The India’s Got Latent controversy

In an episode of Samay’s show, India’s Got Latent, Ranveer asked a contestant,

“Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”

The remark received severe backlash on social media, following which Ranveer apologized for the comment and shared that he had asked the makers to remove the insensitive bits from the video. Ranveer said,

 ” my comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry”.

Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has released a press statement urging strict action against Ranveer and Samay and demanded an ‘immediate ban’ on the show. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis also said that freedom of expression must not cross its limits. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed that she would raise the matter in the parliament.
