Indian Railways Responds After Viral Video Shows Crowded AC Compartment On Poorva Express

Indian Railways is one of the most used means of public transport in India. With the growing population and lack of proper rules and regulations, most trains face overcrowding. The number of complaints regarding overcrowding of AC compartments is increasing at an alarming rate. Most passengers complain about the poor condition of the AC coaches, where passengers without reservation block the passageways to the toilet and even sit on the floor.

A frustrated passenger took to social media, X, and posted a video claiming that AC coaches look like general compartments

The man by the Twitter handle Gandharv Vinayak Rai posted a video on social media showing the overcrowded AC coach of Poorva Express. In the video, Vinayak can be seen recording the area near the toilet and also the passage inside the AC coach B5. Several passengers with no reservation can be seen sitting on the floor of the coach and sharing seats with reserved passengers.

He posted the video and mentioned his train number along with it. He also added that he is showing the condition of the compartment near Patna, which looks like a crowded general coach. He also said that he had already made a complaint at Rail Madad with the complaint number 2024121005214, but even after 45 minutes, has got no response from the Railways.

The man tagged Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Railways saying,

Railways finally responded to the video that showed the AC coach resembling more of a crowded general sleeper coach

The Railways responded to the video saying that they are listening and will do their best to help. They also mentioned that the concerned officials have been notified. Railways replied,

We’re listening and will do our best to help. The concerned officials are being notified.

Vinayak further posted that the Railways have closed the complaint without verification.
