‘Why Is Anupam Mittal Rude To You?’ Shark Tank India’s Amit Jain Responds On Reddit AMA

Shark Tank India has done it again. The reality show has garnered a lot of attention with its new season. Even though the fans miss Ashneer Grover, they are still very invested in the show. The new judge this season, Amit Jain, has undoubtedly received an overwhelming response from the fans. Recently, the shark decided to do an AMA session on Reddit.

Amit Jain spilled some tea

Amit Jain, the co-founder and CEO of CarDekho, spilled quite some beans on his recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session. The latest shark on the new season of the popular business reality show, Shark Tank India, also gave some solid advice to young investors. Quite a few redditors bombarded the maverick investor with a lot questions, specially some which one wouldn’t have asked in an open forum or a generic talk show.

None the less Shark was good sport and took time to reply to as many questions as he could. While some were specifically skipped, a few were replied to at length, and a couple of queries were met with single word quips.

It seems like sometimes Anupam is rude to you. How do you deal with it outside the show?

Amit Jain’s humourous reply,

Outside the show, we have a mutually respectable relationship.

Another user asked,

Hello sir…. I only watch yr Shark Tank Episode… why don’t you strong reply to other sharks when they behaviour r very rude towards u

Amit replied sarcastically,

Hey Amit, loved seeing you on Shark Tank as a new shark this season. I wanted to know, why does it seem as if the sharks are targeting you to create unnecessary drama? Is it all scripted or do things genuinely get this heated in the tank?

The CarDekho co-founder replied sophistically,

There is zero scripting in the show. Only difference is that the pitches are 1:15 mins on an average and you see a very edited version, which may have the heated points more often in the televised version. When there are alpha personalities fighting for same deals there are bound to be heated ones also. Post the tank, it does get normalized as we are all mature people. The emotional hangover isn’t there post tank

One girl asked a very relevant question,

 What kind of financial advice would you give to people who are in early 20s?

Amit delivered,

“Just learn various asset formats early in your journey. Have small percentages of your earnings allocated to various types of investments to learn how things work. Focus on learning more than saving. Take Risks.”

Another asked,

When can we expect to see the IPO of CarDekho? Also, will the listing be on Indian exchanges?

Amit replied,

“Next year likely. Indian exchange”

Another user asked what we all have been thinking about,

Is it ethical to not fund a company which has the same idea as your friend’s, like it was done on the show for Vineeta Singh’s Sugar Cosmetics?

Amit Jain put forward his view regarding this matter,

“I will surely fund any company as I don’t think, we as sharks should black-list any category based on previous investments or similarity with friends’ company. I believe with such a small stake in startup how can one even be a competition? If we as sharks block categories like this, how will pitchers ever get investments?”
