6 Movies Of Abhay Deol That Flopped Despite Promising Content And Good Performance

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise, nepotism debate restarted. People from the industry are coming forward exposing the dark side of Bollywood. Actor Abhay Deol has also shared his views telling how people in the industry lobby against you. There was a time when this actor had a streak of films in his kitty. Despite stellar performance and good content, Abhay’s movies didn’t get pampered at the box office.

Here are his six films that were amazing but could not attract the audience to movie halls:

1. Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!– 2008

The movie was released a year after Abhay was appreciated for his performance in Dev D. Apart from him, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! also featured Richa Chadha and Paresh Rawal. The movie had wonderful performances. However, the film doomed at the box office.

It was released just after 26/11 Mumbai terror attack which is considered one of the reasons, the film didn’t work at the ticket window.

2. Road, Movie– 2009

It was premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2009. It released in 2010 and had a very new concept. The film explores the real India. In it, a young guy named Vishnu, played by Abhay, tours around the country.

Despite the fresh concept, the movie went unnoticed.

3. Socha Na Tha– 2005

Imtiaz Ali’s gem through which Abhay made his Bollywood debut was appreciated by the audience. It is still remembered as one of the beautiful romantic films but it didn’t get pampered at the box office.

4. Manorama Six Feet Under– 2007

Abhay picked movies that were not conventional. He didn’t believe in larger-than-life cinema and portrayed characters that were realistic. With 7.8 ratings in IMDb, Manorama Six Feet Under was critically acclaimed but was not praised at the box office.

The movie is about two people who missed their last local and what happened next was interesting. Despite a good concept, the film flopped at the box office.

The Dibakar Banarjee directed movie is one of the thought-provoking films made in Bollywood. It had the political storyline that forced you to think. However, the film didn’t get the recognition it deserved.
