Before the news business got real speed with all those news channels broadcasting news 24×7 and social media empowering people to be citizen journalists, the news business required a lot of manpower, time, effort and the process was too slow. Before the broadcasting channels came into the picture there were steps that were conducted with painstaking effort. The news at those times was more careful and thought out reportage unlike what news channels showcase these days.

Here we have a series of pictures of the newspaper business before telephones and computers that show how long we have come to be it for better and sometimes for worse. These pictures were taken at the Times Of India, Mumbai on the occasion of their Diamond Jubilee in 1898.
