Renowned in the Indian entertainment scene, Sargun Mehta has made a name for herself because of her extraordinary talent and adaptability. Mehta is well-known for her outstanding performances in both film and television. Her transformation from a struggling television actress to a well-known movie star is evidence of her commitment, resolve, and love for art.
Born in Chandigarh, Sargun Mehta had an affinity for acting from a young age. Her involvement in theater throughout her high school and undergraduate years marked her first step into the world of acting. Even though Mehta studied commerce in college, she continued to pursue her acting goals. Her hard work paid off in 2009 when the show “12/24 Karol Bagh” gave her her big break in the television industry.

Nonetheless, she became even more well-known after appearing in the television shows “Phulwa” (2011) and “Kya Huaa Tera Vaada” (2012). Ultimately, she established herself as a leading actress, when she appeared in the Colors TV drama series “Balika Vadhu” in 2013.
After making her screen debut in Punjabi cinema with the movie “Angrej,” she went on to have a lovely marriage with her spouse, Ravi Dubey, in 2013. However, societal pressures and intrusive questions about pregnancy continue to persist. This is evidenced in her recent interview, during which she was asked some awkward questions related to family planning.
Sargun Mehta handled intrusive questions about family planning with grace
In a video clip shared widely, the interviewer pressed Mehta about her plans for having children, asking:
“Janta ka yeh sawal hai baccho ka kya plan hai itne saal ho gaye wait karte karte, mai bhi bada hogya apko dekhte dekhte.”
Visibly uncomfortable, Mehta questioned the relevance of such inquiries, responding:
“But yeh sawal ka tum logo se kya lena dena ya fir janta ko bhi kya lena dena.”
The interviewer continued despite Mehta’s calm manner, which made her restate their intention of having a family when the moment felt appropriate. Mehta ultimately spoke loudly to brush off more questions.
In a rough manner, Sargun said,
“Nai aisa kuch bhi nahi hai. Nai. I don’t know.”

This incident is not the first time Mehta has addressed such inquiries with poise. She highlighted in an earlier interview with the Hindustan Times that life is about more than just getting pregnant. Sargun stressed the need to pursue one’s goals in both personal and professional lives. She encourages people to accept other people’s preferences and decisions, regardless of social pressures. Speaking about this, she said,
“It’s like that’s the only thing you expect out of a couple. It’s putting down the entire institution of marriage if that’s the only thing we’re supposed to do. I’m not saying that anybody who is getting pregnant or wants to have a baby is wrong. People have different priorities and goals in life. Some people achieve when they’re 25, some achieve it when they’re 40. Only when you feel that you’re satisfied with what you want to do it life, can you move ahead and give somebody else happiness. It’s not something you can do while you’re still struggling or clawing to be someone. I am on a different journey at the moment.”
Sargun Mehta’s handling of the matter demonstrated not just her composure under pressure but also the importance of honoring individual boundaries and appreciating the variety of life routes that people take.
