Kapil Dev Asks Neeraj Chopra About His Marriage Plans, Gold Medalist Gives A Perfect Reply

By now we all are well aware of the guy who made the nation proud, Neeraj Chopra. He is just a 23-year-old Indian javelin thrower, who acquired the first at the Tokyo Olympics. Not only that he created history by doing so, but he also brought in India’s first athletics medal.

Neeraj has been trained under Uwe Hohn, who’s an Olympics athlete as well. Neeraj’s personal best when it comes to javelin stands up to 88.07m (2021). Some of the awards he received are Arjuna Award for Athletics, Gold Medal in Olympics 2020, etc.

Now that we all know about his spectacular performance, not to mention he already has become the national crush over Twitter. Do we know what’s going on when it comes to him marrying and settling down?

Neeraj was in a conversation with Kapil Dev, the renowned retired Indian cricketer. Where Kapil asked him about his childhood, how he get into javelin throw, his plans on marriage etc.

In the interview Neeraj said he was the fat and the obese child. His uncle took him to athletics training in order for him to lose some weight. Javelin was never a part of his plan, Neeraj used to see other players practice and that sparked his interest. He wanted hands-on experience in that field. And now he brought in India’s first athletics gold.

Neeraj has also received words of appreciation from Indian actor Arjun Kapoor. He was bewildered as to how beautifully Neeraj grew out of his “fat phase” and now he made the entire nation proud.

“The time I went to the stadium, sports was never part of the plan, neither was playing for my country & winning a medal. No one in my family or in my village is into sports. Later, I worked really hard & got great support from everyone,” said Neeraj Chopra to ANI on Sunday.

When he was asked why did he dedicate his gold medal to Late Milkha Singh? Neeraj replied that when he saw Milkha lose the medal due to a few metres and he wished someone from India would bring a medal home. That motivated Neeraj and now that he won the medal, he completely dedicated the gold medal to Milkha Singh. What a beautiful gesture.

Kapil Dev asked Neeraj about his marriage plans

Kapil asked the the gold medalist about the plans that Neeraj has for marriage. Chopra responded to this question with a shy smile but said that his ‘entire focus is on sports’. He said,

“No I am focusing completely on sports. Rest all the things will go on, but I would want to keep my entire focus on sports right now.”
