Internet is a funny place where it is hard to distinguish facts from fake. With all sorts of designing skills and tools, it’s a cake walk to create illusions and fake images. Ironically, these fake stories make more buzz than the real ones and it takes quite an analytical person to tell the difference between two.

1. Deforestation of rainforest over 10 years

It breaks our heart to see deforestation of such a scale. Right? But what if we tell you that the image is actually a mere play of camera perspective.

It is not a collage of pictures taken 10 years apart but it is a single picture instead. The right side of the picture is a place where excessively growing palm trees were removed.

2. A guy with mad tossing skills

Everyone believed that this Asian chef is actually tossing rice in a wok.

Well, the rice is fake. In fact, it is simply a sculpture of rice stuck together. It can be easily bought from a store in Tokyo.

3. Graffiti reflection in water

According to the description, this graffiti in Lithuana projects a picture perfect reflection on the lake in front of it. It also claimed that the artist drew it upside down on purpose.

But actually, the picture would look perfectly symmetrical on water only if there is no wind and there are no waves in the water. The reflection in the photograph was edited.

4. A lynx and a deer taking shelter in an office from California fires

This picture of a lynx and a deer cuddling up under a table was said to be from California. According to the viral story, the duo took shelter in an office from the raging California fires.

In reality, the picture was taken in 2009 inside a property of an animal rescue organization not very far from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ranch. Later, the rescuer even shared the grown up picture of the lynx and the deer.

5. Fireworks on New Year in Paris

This viral picture shows a hundred of fireworks going off above Eiffel Tower in Paris on the occasion of New Year.

It turned out to be fake. Locals from Paris pointed out some clues that gave away the picture. Later, the actual picture from the New Year celebrations was shared on the internet.

6. A polar bear taking a train ride in Russia

One has to give it to the costume artist for their realistic guise. In the picture that went viral, it is show that a polar bear is taking a ride in a train.

This picture was from Czech Republic and it is real except for the fact that the polar bear isn’t. It is two people wearing costumes to raise awareness from the Save The Artic campaign.

7. Shivering goose sticking to a puppy for warmth

This picture is widely circulated on social media and claimed to from Montana US. In the description, it reads that the puppy was freezing on the road when a flock of ducks was passing by. The puppy ran towards one of them and hid under its wing for warmth.

The true story is not known to anyone but these photos have been shared on Chinese websites since 2017.

8. Megalodon’s tooth in Whale’s bone

This picture shows a Megalodon’s tooth dug into a whale’s bone. The bones and tooth are true but they were found separately at different times. A seller just combined them into a single piece. The photo was first found online in 2012 and one can buy the artifact for just $125!

9. Cruise ship dumping waste into the sea

The picture seems to be showing that a cruise is dumping waste into the sea. It received a lot flak for damaging marine ecosystem.

The national direction on the environment of Uruguay had to drop an explanation that the ship has just started its turbine to drop its anchor which set free the sludge from the bottom of the sea.
