The television industry and Bollywood are two of the most talked-about industries that have engaged audiences for a very long time. Numerous TV stars have tried their luck in Bollywood. Several of them excelled and reached great heights. However, others were unable to do the same and struggled miserably. The Bollywood industry has not only allowed various TV celebrities to improve their careers but has also inspired diverse plots in the industry. Sometimes, Bollywood films have served as inspiration for the storylines of popular Hindi serials.
Here we have recollected some of these Hindi daily soap operas that took their stories from some of the blockbuster Bollywood movies.
1. Jodha Akbar
Jodha Akbar is one of the most beloved historical period drama films, starring Hrithik and Aishwarya in the lead roles.
The movie may not have overcome the beauty of the songs and the pairing. However, it has inspired the small screen makers to introduce a series based on the movie. Not only the film but also the serial based on the same plot became very popular amongst Indian audiences.
2. Badho Bahu and Dum Laga Ke Haisha
Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar stunned the audience with her transformation in the blockbuster film Dum Laga Ke Haisha. One of the most successful movies to date is made even better by a beautiful couple of Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi.
Fans still hum and love the song from this movie, Yeh Moh Moh Ke Dhaage. A classic serial was made based on the storyline of this movie, Badho Bahu, on the small screen.
3. Naagin and Nagina
Icchadhari Naagin has been the subject of numerous TV shows as well as movies to date. Naagin, a Hindi sitcom based on the actress Sridevi’s Naagina, has roots in the actress’s Sridevi starrer film. This is neither true nor false, however.
A series of other instalments of this serial was produced after this series was hugely successful on small screens.
4. Peshwa Bajirao and Bajirao Mastani
For Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Bajirao Mastani is one of their classics. Based on a historical drama, a daily soap named Peshwa Bajirao was started from the same storyline. This serial was well received by the audiences, thanks to the outstanding performance by the child artist.
5. Dil Toh Hai Dil and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham
We can drool over K3G over and over again, no matter how many times we have watched it. Dil Hi Toh Hai is a Hindi drama series that adapts the famous story of this film.
6. Jaana Na Dil Se Door and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Time to adapt another blockbuster movie into a serial. This time it is Jaana Na Dil Se Door which was adapted from the story of the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
7. Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil and Pardes
Pardes is undoubtedly one of the most iconic Bollywood cult classics whose story and songs have won the hearts of the audience.
The daily soap Pardes Mein hai Mera Dil was made on the lines of this one. It revolves around a love triangle and a story about an NRI returning to India.
8. Bidaai and Vivah
Several societal issues were addressed in Vivah that have been taboos for generations. In this film, the bonds between sisters and marriage have been beautifully depicted.
The actor Alok Nath played a similar role in both the film and the Starplus serial Bidaai.
9. Dil Se Dil Tak and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke
An ensemble cast of Bollywood actors like Rani Mukerjee, Salman Khan, Priety Zinta, etc., starred in the Bollywood movie Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, which was based on the concept of surrogacy.
Producers of the serial Dil Se Dil Tak, starring Rashami Desai, adapted the same story plot.
10. Love You Zindagi and Jab We Met
“Main Apni Favourite Hun!” Geet, the iconic yet jolly character of the blockbuster hit Jab We Met, has been one of Kareena Kapoor’s most beloved roles.
The attitude of Geet in the film was an inspiration for the lead character in Love You Zindagi.
11. Brahmarakshas and Jaani Dushman
The cult classic Bollywood film Jaani Dushman, starring superstar Sanjeev Kumar, cannot be forgotten. The plot revolves around the abduction of newlywed brides. The actresses consist of diverse personalities from the industry.
On the same lines, Brahmarakshas is a daily soap opera that was made for ZEE5. The serial was subsequently released in two installments and was a big hit with the audience.
12. Kya Hua Tera Waada and Biwi No.1
A film about a love triangle and the concept of Gharwali Aur Bahar Wali. Even though men usually underestimate the importance of their wives, this funny yet powerful movie reminded us of their importance.
Kya Hua Tera Wada was released with Mona Singh as the lead actress following the same storyline.
13. Naamkaran and Zakhm
Zakhm, a Bollywood feature film about national integration, was the recipient of the Nargis Dutt Award. An ensemble cast of great actors like Ajay Devgn, Pooja Bhatt, Kunal Khemu, etc. inspired the popular movie trilogy Naamkaran starring Barkha Sengupta, Reema Lagoo, and others.
