Despite being incomparably different, business and sports have a lot in common. Our passion for football has many similarities to business. Consider your own behaviour while you are engaged in a business and see how much you have unwittingly learned as you engaged in a football match.

Because of this, business and football have many similarities. It captivates our focus and persists in our minds long after the 90 minutes are up. And who knows this better than any successful businessman who is also a football enthusiast?

The biggest example of this is industrialist Anand Mahindra!

Anand Mahindra, the CEO of the Mahindra Group and one of the most successful businessmen in India, is well-known for his amusing tweets and engaging articles on human interest topics. In order to uplift and encourage his fans, he has also started posting engaging content on his social media accounts. He inspires and encourages his fans as well, but almost always with a fresh take.

But many don’t know that he is also a football enthusiast. Not so surprisingly, as we all know how Anand Mahindra is on social media platforms, he posted a video of a football match in his new tweet to teach a lesson on the value of teamwork in a startup.

“A lesson in Teamwork of course. But also an analogy for how a start-up company needs to operate. Success comes not from relentlessly advancing together in one direction but back & forth, trying new angles of approach & then going for the ‘kill’ when the strategic path is clear”

The businessman illustrated his point by using a video clip of Manchester City’s squad making 44 passes before eventually finding space for the last pass that results in a goal. The businessman urged Indian start-ups to collaborate and use teamwork to succeed.

The video went viral on social media shortly after Anand Mahindra posted it, and it now has more than 14.2K likes and more than 2,000 retweets. Many social media users started commenting in response to his witty but logical tweet.
