Captain America is a fictional character which appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He appeared for the first time in Captain America Comics#1 from Timely Comics, which is the predecessor of Marvel Comics.

He is a patriotic supersoldier who fought the Axis powers during World War II and was later frozen in ice but survived. Captain America was the first Marvel character to appear in media outside of comics and is portrayed by Chris Evans in Captain America and Avengers film series.

Childhood

Steve Rogers was born in a poor family. His father and mother died when he was in his late teens. He was very thin, fragile and frail since birth. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, he was inspired to try in the Army. But because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected by the US Army.

How Steve Rogers became Captain America

By seeing the weak condition of Roger’s General Chester Phillips of the U.S Army offered him the opportunity to take part in a special experiment called Operation: REBIRTH.

He agreed and was taken to a laboratory where he was at last administered the Super Soldier Serum and was exposed to the “vita rays” which is a special combination of exotic wavelengths of radiation designed to accelerate the serum’s effect on his body.

After some time he emerged from the chamber with a perfect body like a muscular man. Roger was then put through an intensive physical training and military strategy. After that he was given a red, white and blue costume of Captain America.

Captain America’s shield is made up from Vibranium which is able to absorb all kinetic energy and transfers very little energy from each impact, meaning Captain America does not feel recoil or transferred impact forces from blocking attacks.

His shield is virtually indestructible under normal conditions. It is strong enough to absorb hulk’s strength and repel an attack from Thor’s hammer.

Captain America was actually created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby in 1941. They later on helped Stan Lee create heroes such as Fantastic Four, Thor, X-Men and Hulk.

3. He is actually a Fifth Avenger

We all know Captain America as The First Avenger but in marvel’s comic he is the Fifth Avenger. Ant-man, Hulk, Iron man and Thor were already in the team. Captain America became the part of Avengers only when Hulk left the team.

4. Chris Evans declined the role of Captain America 3 times before finally agreeing

He was worried about the effects of fame on his private life. Then Robert Downey Jr. convinced him to sign the movie.

5. Captain America bones can resist fall from very high heights

In his movies he has jumped from extreme high heights and landed without breaking a bone. He can even jump from a helicopter without a parachute because his body can withstand it.

6. Steve Rogers was shrunk digitally in the movie The First Avenger by a company called LOLA

LOLA company was specialized in digital “plastic surgery”. They shrunk Steve Rogers in all the dimensions. They shot Steve at least 4 times. When he had to interact with other actors in the movie, they had to either lower him or raise the other actors in the scene.

7. Cap can lift Thor’s hammer Mjölnir

Captain America can easily become an expert in any weapon in seconds. Multiple times in the comics he has lifted Thor’s hammer. There are very few things that Captain America can’t do.

8. He can’t get drunk

When the experiment was going on Steve Rogers then he drank the super soldier serum which improved his body metabolism. His metabolism is so fast that he can burn off any alcohol in his system quicker than a average person.

His shield was originally triangular. It was later changed to a circle to avoid similarities with Archie Comics superhero “The Shield”.
